THE TOOL KIT COACH
LEARNING STYLES

Tips and Caveats from the class discussion:

  • don't overload the senses

  • some people may find music distracting even if they like the type you have chosen

  • we can focus on one activity anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes before we need a change

  • "toys" can help participants regulate their own energy

  • even if people want written material, they may not read it even if it is provided

  • make sure to give permission to participants that they do not have to participate if they do not want to do so

  • ask for volunteers

  • the choice of words will be one of the key ways that we can appeal to the various modalities of learning styles

We retain:

William Glaser, Educational Psychologist states:

“We learn
10% of what we read,

20% of what we hear,
30% of what we see,
50% of what we see and hear,

70% of what we discuss,
and
80% of what we experience.”

Someone added that we may retain up to 90% of what we teach.

Experiential Learning Cycle

There has been a significant amount of work done which helps us understand how managers and others learn from their experiences. Kolb (1984) argued that it is useful to refine the concept of reflection by dividing it into two separate learning activities, perceiving and processing.. From this combination Kolb developed a four stage learning cycle, which in turn was further developed by Honey and Mumford (1989).

SPECIAL OFFER

I am offering a four session teleclass program around the Experiential Learning Styles Model to help coaches identify, understand and apply different learning techniques.  We will also cover how to use accelerated learning techniques.  The cost is $125.
If you mention this ad - cost will be $79.50 US

You would get a workbook.   We would work our way through the model and have both theoretical and concrete activates such as role plays.  (OH NO not role plays!)  Well how about some case studies?

This program is a recommended prerequisite for my program on learning how and when to use various assessment instruments.

DATES: No confirmed schedule at the moment.
